It has been said that the corner lot (69 & 69A) has
never had so many people on the block, as it did
last Sat., Aug. 9 during the
Parish Olde Home Days. The gorgeous weather just
added to the perfect day.
(con't below)
There were many there to enjoy the demonstrations by Florence Gardner caning chairs; Henry Gloude chain-saw carving a log into a masterpiece; Bob Karboski of Icy Creek Farms sheering sheep, Sharon Robbins sewing penny quilts and Sue Romanowski making bread. The displays: antique dolls and farm machinery with Rich and Barb Horning, B-Gale Mullen with information on ducks, Evelyn Stelmashuck with a woman's display on farming: calf, the three cuttings of hay and vegetables; Sandy Miller's extraordinary quilts and Robert Miller's antique violin previously owned and played by Earl Church. Fred Swartz is the proud owner of the Parish Town Historical Society 's 3 tiered bench crafted and donated by Ken Henderson. All of this entertainment along with the many other vendors: the Parish United Methodist's delicious home made ice cream social; Paul and Phyllis Dayger's Watson products; Larry Priest's sale table; Miss Jamie of Right Step Dance Studio registration table Laura and Jeremy Bateman with goat cheese and the Amish with their healthy vegetables. The Greater Parish Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all those who purchased hotdogs, hamburgers and cold drinks throughout the day, to the vendors, artists, presenters and demonstrators that added to the venue, to the town employees that got the corner prepared (even new picnic tables) and a very special thank you to Nancy Bookheimer for her superb job of inviting guests, scheduling and organizing of this community event and the added touches with free watermelon slices, lemonade, old-fashioned candy, cookies, peanuts and so much more. There is not a thing she did not think of!
