The fourth annual 'Olde Home Days', sponsored by the Greater Parish Area Chamber of Commerce, was held on Saturday, August 6th. "This event continues to grow in popularity..." said Daniel Dalin, President of Chamber, opening the event and welcoming everyone, "...part of our mission is to create a feeling of community spirit in the manner
of a small Town/Village".

A great number of people turned out for the event on the green at Parish's Four Corners. Music was supplied by both the Ontario String Band and Florence Gardner, who rounded out the day with old time favorites on her keyboard. People had a great time strolling around the grounds viewing the vendors and the many different displays.

There was a large number of handcrafted items and many home grown vegetables. Many of the activities throughout the day included a petting zoo, pony cart & horse rides and children's games. Great food was available with hotdogs and hamburgers cooked by the Candlelight Cottage staff, homemade ice cream and fried bread dough. There were local artists' displays, needle work from the past and present, a Historical Society table (Kerry Barber won the PTHS raffle- a hand crafted étagère), Blacksmithing demonstrations, handmade wood crafts, chair caning, chainsaw artistry and storytelling by Peg Peck at the Library.

The Parish Volunteer Fire Dept., local Churches, Public Library, Village and Town Government and many of the local clubs were represented in this fun filled day.

Town Supervisor, Steve Stelmashuck, and Village Mayor, Leon Heagle, were quoted as saying "The town and village are pleased to provide their downtown site for such a wonderful showcasing of all our community has to offer." Chamber Member and coordinator of the event, Nancy Bookheimer, wishes to thank the many vendors participating, the craftspeople, Belden Dawley, Superintendent Highway Dept., the volunteers and the Parish Community for their continued support.
