About the Artist  Mary Lynch

The walls of the Parish Public Library will once again highlight the works of a local artist.
Mary Lynch’s paintings, and crewel work are gracing the walls of the library for the Month of February. Mary’s love of nature  is the theme of her art, e.g., flowers in her crewel work and Adirondack woodlands in her paintings.

Mary, a 1953 graduate of Shepard University in Shepardstown, West Virginia  Where she met her husband Francis. They have been married 53 years, have two sons, and five grandchildren.

There were many moves in their years of marriage; Winchester, VA; Shepardstown, WV; Star Lake, NY Pittsburgh, Pa.  Then when Francis decided to retire they moved to Parish to be close to their son and family living in Mexico, NY.

It was during the 11 years the family lived in Star Lake that Mary started painting along with a dear friend,  taking lessons together.  The beautiful Adirondack woodlands and Mary’s love of nature provided the subject for many of her paintings. Then, after moving to  Pittsburgh, Mary joined the West Hills Art League exhibiting her art at the  Coraopolis Memorial Art Center. She continued art lessons this time from Mr. John John, a caricaturist with the Pittsburgh Press newspaper.

Wherever Mary has lived it didn’t take her long to involve herself with the community. Fundraising for Art Centers, Garden Clubs, Hospital Auxiliary, Women’s Club and their Church.  Upon  moving to Parish she found the Library, volunteering her time. Later accepting an appointment to Board of Trustees, where she now serves as the Vice President. For many years she has been involved with the Parish Food Pantry.

Come and enjoy the ‘One Woman Show’ at the  Parish Public Library’s  during the regular hours throughout the Month of February. A Jewel of a show.
